On 26 February, President Donald Trump shared an AI-generated video on his Truth Social platform, illustrating a vision for the Gaza Strip transformed into a luxurious resort area named "Trump Gaza". The 35-second clip begins with imagery of war-torn Gaza, transitioning into scenes of pristine beaches, towering skyscrapers, and opulent hotels adorned with gold accents.

Notably, the video features a massive golden statue of Trump, children carrying balloons bearing his likeness, and depictions of Trump alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu lounging poolside. Elon Musk also appears in the video, portrayed enjoying local cuisine and distributing money to onlookers.

The accompanying soundtrack includes lyrics such as: "Donald's coming to set you free, bringing the light for all to see. No more tunnels, no more fear: Trump Gaza's finally here."

This video aligns with President Trump's earlier proposal, announced on 4 February 2025, wherein he suggested that the United States could "take over" and "own" the Gaza Strip. He envisioned clearing the existing destruction and rebuilding the area to provide "unlimited amounts of jobs and housing," transforming it into the "Riviera of the Middle East." Trump also proposed relocating the approximately two million Palestinian residents to neighboring countries, a suggestion that has been widely condemned by international leaders and organizations as tantamount to ethnic cleansing.

The AI-generated video has sparked significant backlash. Critics, including some of Trump's supporters on Truth Social, have labeled the video as being in "poor taste." Arab American communities and leaders have expressed offense, viewing the depiction as insensitive to the ongoing conflict and humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Additionally, the portrayal of golden statues and extravagant imagery has raised concerns among conservative and religious groups, who perceive it as idolatrous and inappropriate.

The video's origin traces back to earlier in February, when it was initially shared by pro-Israel social media accounts unaffiliated with the White House. The Economist has noted that such AI-generated content represents a new genre of political communication, blending absurdity with controversial ideas under the guise of humor.

In summary, President Trump's dissemination of the AI-generated "Trump Gaza" video has ignited debates over its appropriateness and the broader implications of using artificial intelligence in political discourse. The video's content, coupled with Trump's proposed plans for Gaza, continues to elicit strong reactions both domestically and internationally.
